My Portfolio

      Welcome to Gjerde Art.  My name is Allison Malher-Gjerde, and my specialty is landscape oil paintings and pastel works. My love for the surrounding rural landscape inspires my paintings and is a constant reminder of the beauty of our country. 
     Growing up in a small town just north of where I now live was a joyful experience. Constantly outdoors, surrounded by nature, is where I found my joy and appreciation for the beauty of this earth. I learned from an incredibly early age that there is nothing more captivating than sunlight glistening off the leaves after a summer rain, running through the dappled light in the woods, or looking for tiny creatures in the tall grass. These are still the things that speak to me. I have grown older, but I have never grown up. My heart still yearns for the beauty of the outdoors, now I just try to not let the neighbors see me looking for those tiny creatures in the grass.
     I also loved art as a child. Many days were spent drawing and coloring, but it was not until recently that I devoted myself to painting God's glory. I believe there is beauty in everything that surrounds us. I believe that the earth was gloriously and wonderfully created. If I can capture just a small part of that, I am happy.
